A look behind the scenes at Team 2-Boost Performance.
Since 2-Boost was founded in 2024, when the team consisted of just Ivo and Vanessa, it has grown considerably to around 20 athletes, both Belgian and international. To keep everything running smoothly, Ivo and Vanessa needed more people to help with logistics and other tasks. That’s why we’re now giving you a glimpse behind the scenes of the team.
First and foremost, of course, there is Ivo Roelandt. He is the head coach; he draws up training schedules, coordinates the athletes’ competition plans, arranges laboratory tests… he is a true team leader. As well as his role as coach, he also acts as an athletes’ representative. He helps his athletes who do not have management to find the right competitions.
Vanessa Scaunet is an athlete on the team who co-founded 2-Boost Performance with Ivo. She is a sports and performance dietitian. She writes sports recipes, which you can find on the website. She enjoys coming up with new ideas for the team, coordinates the annual team-building event and is responsible for the Instagram page, the podcast and the website.
Kevin van Cutsem is our podcast cohost and makes sure our podcast is edited and published on Spotify.
Hoka sponsors a number of athletes on the team, and Ivo works as head coach for the brand. That is why weekly contact with the brand is essential. He therefore also coaches international Hoka athletes.
To ensure everything runs smoothly – such as travel, booking flights and hotels – we work with a travel agency. This has been a huge help to us in organising training camps and competitions.
An Coomans is our secretary and massage therapist. She handles most of our administrative work, which is a huge blessing. As an added bonus, she is our massage therapist and Hoka’s massage therapist. Below, we’ll let An speak for herself to give a more detailed insight into what she does.
Hello An, thank you for speaking with us. When did you start working with 2-Boost Performance?
Hello. In mid-2025, I started thinking about a career change. By then, I had been working in the banking sector as an administrative assistant for 30 years, and I had lost all enjoyment in the job. But it’s not easy to start something new after so many years. I’d always told myself: “If I ever leave the bank, it’ll be to do something completely different”. But what exactly?
And then 2-Boost Performance (Ivo and Vanessa) came forward with a proposal to help them with their administration. They were looking for someone who could take the admin off their hands so that they could focus on their other activities. Because administration takes up a lot of time – everyone knows that. I didn’t have to think about it for long, as it met my own condition for stepping away from the world of finance.
That sounds great, but how did you end op becoming a massage therapist?
It still felt like that it wasn’t enough of a change. I was still doing administrative work and I wanted something completely different, something totally ‘out of the box’. And that’s where the story of sports massage began. I did a course in sports massage. And that was a real hit. It’s something I really love doing.
I am now the regular massage therapist for 2-Boost Performance. I have already supported them during their altitude training camp in Font Romeu and at the Belgian Athletics Championships in Kessel-Lo. Since this month I also do massages for the HOKA-team and I will join them on their training camp this month.
Two very different jobs indeed.
The combination of administrative work and massages makes the job varied and engaging. I’m enjoying myself again.
Good luck with this new adventure!
Thanks!
